The Martha’s Vineyard Figure Skating Club hosted its 28th annual Ice Show — Legends of Country Music — at the Martha’s Vineyard Arena on April 1 and 2.
Skaters jumped, spun and twirled to Willie Nelson, Garth Brooks, LeAnne Rimes, Faith Hill, Rascal Flatts and many more. Tots skated and danced their hearts out to the “Boot Scootin’ Boogie;” the “Learn to Skate” group gave a rowdy rendition of “The Gambler” and the Bridge program skaters floated gracefully to the sounds of the Dixie Chicks.
Featured soloists this year were Molly Carroll, Megan Zeilinger, Sally Caron, Lily Davey and Amanda Bernard. Polly the Penguin also joined the cast to help with the Snowplow Sam program. The event also featured guest skater Trisha Roohan, an Empire State Games Champion.
The Skate show was directed by Beth O’Connor and Jane Taylor, who reported being impressed with the hard work exhibited with the skaters in the MV Skate Club this season.
