Play ball, homes needed

To the Editor:

It’s that time of the year again. The MV Sharks will have 31 baseball players arrive on the Island in a few short weeks. We are still scrambling to find a few more host families for the players to stay with this summer. Host families will receive passes to all home games for the season, as well as a $500 stipend for each player hosted. Families will also receive gift certificates to local Island businesses.

Our players are collegiate players, mostly from New England but also from around the country. They will play for the Sharks representing Martha’s Vineyard in the Futures Collegiate Baseball League. The players will arrive after Memorial Day weekend and will leave the second week in August. Players need a bed, and a place to shower, do laundry, and cook. Please consider making one of these guys a part of your family this summer. Please contact me at Thank you.
