The Chilmark Highway Department is repaving a section of Middle Road from Beetlebung Corner to Carey Rise, just southwest of Tabor House Road, weather permitting, until Monday, May 23.
Work began Tuesday and will continue through Saturday, with a break on Thursday, and begin again on Monday. Paving will take place during daylight hours of 8 am to 6 pm each day.
Local traffic will not be allowed to cross freshly laid bituminous concrete, and drivers should expect delays as traffic will be directed away from the paving operation, according to a press release. Driveways or subdivision roads may be impacted for up to two hours during the laying of the final top coat.
Residents may contact the Chilmark Highway Department for updated information at 508-645-2100 or the selectmen’s office at 508-645-2101 with questions.
