Vineyard girls dominate at MIAA tennis competition

Vineyard girls excelled in last weekend’s MIAA matches, held at Tabor Academy and Old Rochester. In first-round matches, Kat Roberts beat her opponent from Sandwich, 6-0, 6-0, while Kelly Klaren took a bye. Doubles partners Victoria Scott and Lizzie Williamson were 6-0, 6-0 against Bishop Feehan.

Second-round play matched Kelly Klaren against Foxboro, and she was successful, winning 6-1, 6-2. Kat Roberts prevailed over Bishop Feehan 6-1, 6-2, and doubles winners Victoria Scott and Lizzie Williamson beat North Attleboro 6-0, 6-1. In Sunday’s third-round action, Kelly Klaren won 6-4, 6-0 over Falmouth. Kat Roberts lost to Foxboro’s No. 1 seed 3-6, 2-6. Round of 16 winners Lizzie Williamson and Victoria Scott beat Taunton 6-0, 6-1, and Kelly Klaren was winner 6-2, 6-2 over Barnstable.

Kelly Klaren is still in line to compete in the South Section quarterfinals on Saturday. Lizzie Williamson and Victoria Scott will play doubles in the tournament as well.
