Help Windemere and have fun

To the Editor:

The annual Windemere Residents’ Auction will be held on Friday, June 3rd. This will be our ninth year. The auction allows us to bring in entertainers, exercise instructors, provide intergenerational programs, animal programs in the garden, a drumming program with Rick Bausman, and dancing programs with the Yard, and it allows us to bring the residents out to concerts and plays and to restaurants for lunch and dinner. We also take our residents bowling at the Bistro, swimming at the Y, on ice cream drives, and on many trips to the Ag Fair every summer.

This year, Dave Caron will be our auctioneer. We will have a live auction, a silent auction, a raffle, and a giving tree. We have so many wonderful items to bid on: handmade quilts and sweaters, photographs and paintings, gift certificates, sailboat rides, biplane rides, handmade crafts, gift baskets, tennis lesson, golf lesson, fishing trip, oysters, sunset kayak tour, shrub fertilizer, homemade jams and jellies, Red Sox tickets, massages, doggie daycare or grooming, and many, many more items.

We celebrate life every day at Windemere, and our goal is to keep our residents engaged in life, for as long as possible. The Windemere Residents’ Auction gives us the opportunity to do just that. Please come and join us at the Grange Hall in West Tisbury on Friday from 6 to 8 pm. Sweets and wine. No admission fee.

If you are unable to attend the auction, but would like to make a donation to the Residents’ Activity Fund, please send your donation to: Development Office, Martha’s Vineyard Hospital, P.O. Box 1477, Oak Bluffs, MA 02557. Please make checks payable to: Windemere Residents’ Activity Fund.

Thank you so much for supporting the residents of Windemere Nursing and Rehab Center.
