The League of Women Voters of Martha’s Vineyard invites the public to attend its annual meeting on June 4, at the Oak Bluffs library community room. According to a press release, a panel discussion and Q&A titled “The Rise of Social Media” will take place from 10 am to noon, with Judy Crawford moderating. Media-industry panelists will discuss the explosive rise of social media and its evolving impact on traditional media outlets, citizens, voters, and consumers. The panelists are Stephen Warriner, station manager and executive director of MVTV and Martha’s Vineyard Community Television; Rachel Fuller, the executive director of print production at Ogilvy & Mather NY; and Melora Armstead, an independent video producer based in New York City.

The two-hour discussion will be recorded and televised on MVTV channel 13. Recordings will be provided as a resource to social studies teachers at the Martha’s Vineyard Regional High School and the Martha’s Vineyard Public Charter School.

The program is free and is open to the Island community. Refreshments will be provided.
