Turn the dial

To the Editor:

The evidence has been mounting for years. Once again R.E.L. Knight (Letters to the Editor, June 23, “Rush (Limbaugh) to judgment”) is apparently in the dark when it comes to history, politics, and choice of leaders in Barack Obama. He laments that his radio choices, while driving, are limited to “right wing” radio personalities Rush Limbaugh and Howie Carr. He states he would gladly listen to “left wing” radio if it existed. I guess his car radio doesn’t tune any ABC, NBC, CBS, or NPR stations. He should have his radio repaired, because these stations are well-represented on the “left side” of the radio dial, but that is the subject of another piece.

Although liberal radio shows have been attempted, few if any survive without massive infusions of taxpayer dollars because they have nothing of any intellectual depth or integrity to offer, just some anecdotal sob stories, hyperbolic ranting, an infinite variety of distortions, and a few choruses of “Kumbaya.” Of course, if Mr. Knight and his friends had their way, the First Amendment of the Constitution would be nullified to deny the aforementioned conservative voices a freedom afforded to all U.S. citizens, the right of free expression.

The left has been mounting a disguised attack on the popular conservative talk-show hosts with a twist called the “Fairness Doctrine.” This is liberal-speak for “you can’t say that, if we don’t agree with you.” If you don’t like what they say, why not change to a different station? There is a variety of good music on other stations.

Mr. Knight states Rush and Howie both sing a daily “hymn of hate,” which is leftist code for facts. Obviously R.E.L. Knight is as misinformed on his leader’s history as he is in thinking a radical left agenda has a positive impact on civilized society. He, apparently, never read “Dreams from My Father” or “The Audacity of Hope.”

Mr Knight’s doesn’t think the tirade against Obama by some callers to these radio talk shows, who describe him as an out-of-control, ultra-leftist Marxist socialist who hates America and is hell-bent upon turning the U.S.A. into a replica of the Soviet Union, is accurate. Maybe he’s right, but how else can you account for the “Blame America First, World Wide Apology Tour” Mr. Obama has conducted for almost eight years?

Mr. Obama made a visit to the U.K. a few months ago to lecture them on the consequences of leaving the European Union (E.U.) and threatened them with economic retribution if they did. The Brexit vote to withdraw from the E.U. last week is a reflection of the value of his “advice.” Hopefully the U.S. will come to its senses and reject any further efforts to continue on the disastrous path with the current leadership. God bless America.
