Islanders and long weekend visitors gathered on the sand in front of the Edgartown Lighthouse at 9 o’clock Monday night to ring out the Fourth of July with a thunderous display of fireworks over Edgartown harbor. After a day of packed beaches, boating and festivities, the Island closed out Independence Day with a bang and a shower of colors.
The weekend of warm, breezy days on the Vineyard was also capped off by fire in the sky of a different sort, as colorful sunsets blazed across Island vistas, captured in Menemsha by photographer Doug Burke.
