To the Editor:

On June 20, 2016, our family experienced the unimaginable tragic loss of our much-loved Luke. In an instant, we lost a supportive, loving husband, a devoted father who was a strong role model, a treasured son, an admired brother, and a fun, caring uncle. We all feel blessed to have had Luke’s love and presence in our lives over the years.

It is with utmost gratitude that I want to thank our family, friends, and community members for the outpouring of love for Luke and support for our family. It would be an insurmountable task to list those of whom I speak. Your compassion, support, kind words, hugs, visits, food, donations, and countless selfless acts have been and continue to be beyond what I could have ever imagined. The kindness and generosity shown to the boys and our extended family, as well as me, is appreciated beyond words.

Thank you to all who were able to attend the celebration of Luke’s life, with a special thanks to those who donated their services, time, and energy to make it an absolutely perfect day. The countless memories and stories that were shared that day and have been shared with us throughout are priceless, especially for our boys, Jacob and Sam. It is important for them to continue hearing these from all who knew Luke, and from those who were lucky enough to have a chance encounter with him. It is through these shared memories that he will continue to be ever present in our lives.

Your heartfelt words and memories have touched us deeply. The boys and I feel extremely fortunate to have such a strong support system and caring community. On behalf of our entire family, we would like to thank you once again for your thoughtfulness.
