The Martha’s Vineyard Regional High School land use subcommittee last week unanimously voted in favor of approving an easement for the Martha’s Vineyard Skate Park to bring electricity to the park for four light posts. The full school committee still must approve the easement, and will meet Sept. 12.

The vote was made pending a determination on the setbacks and whether the poles would be put on high school land or land that the YMCA leases from the high school.

Currently, there’s no lighting at the park, and part of the agreement between the park and the committee is that the park would be lit. “This would actually fulfill that part of the agreement,” school superintendent Matt D’Andrea said during the meeting.
