The Art Buchwald Possible Dreams Auction, one of the summer’s premier events, generated spirited bidding for a wide range of auction items under the big top Sunday night. The popular event is a fund raiser for Martha’s Vineyard Community Services.

As he has for the past two years, comedian Jimmy Tingle, ran the show, cajoling guests seated under the tent at the Winnetu resort in Katama to up their bids all for a good cause.

Dreams included 10 days in Burgundy for eight guests at Le Bon Ru and wine tasting at Chateau Coutet; two tickets to the premiere of Doug Liman’s new movie, “Mena,” with Tom Cruise, with a $500 gift certificate from Stina Sayre; and two tickets to a taping of “Late Night with Seth Meyers” plus a $1,000 gift certificate from Kenneth Cole, to name a few.

Since its inaugural night in 1979, the event has raised more than $11 million for MVCS, an organization that provides health programs, crisis intervention, disability, and childcare services.
