Experience explosions in the sky this Friday night, August 19, at the annual Oak Bluff fireworks display in Ocean Park. Make a night of it by grabbing dinner, ice cream, or a drink at any of the buzzing restaurants nearby, and then make your way toward the gazebo to sit back and relax with friends and family. Soak in the traditional summer sounds of the Vineyard Haven Band, a historic group that’s brought music and entertainment to the Island since 1868.

When dusk turns to dark, around 9 pm, the night sky will come alive for one of the Vineyard’s most highly anticipated summer events. T-shirts will be sold for $20 and all proceeds go to the event sponsor, the Oak Bluffs Fireman’s Civic Association. The department provided some helpful tips, suggesting event-goers arrive around 7 pm and park at one of the two nearby parking lots — Waban Park or Sunset Park. Both lots open at 4:30 pm, parking is $10, and vehicles must be moved by midnight.

The event is free and open to the public. For more information, visit the Oak Bluffs Fireman’s Civic Assocation website at oakbluffsfireandems.com or call 508-693-0077.
