The Martha’s Vineyard Agricultural Society, headquartered in West Tisbury, garnered five awards in the 2016 Massachusetts Agricultural Fairs’ Association (MAFA) Media Awards competition, which were presented during the organization’s annual meeting on Nov. 5 at the Sturbridge Host Hotel in Sturbridge.

According to a press release, the Ag Society received two first-place awards in the Website and Advertising Specialties categories, two second-place honors in Potpourri and Posters, and third-place honors in Premium Books — all in the Medium Fairs designation.

The awards are coordinated by Eastern States Exposition’s Noreen Tassinari, director of marketing, and Catherine Pappas, communications manager. This year’s judges were John Paul Grego, Michelle Yue, and Kelly Sobolewski of Mascola Advertising in New Haven, Conn.

Thirteen fairs from across Massachusetts participated in the competition, which drew 77 entries.

The competition takes place in October, and is open to all fairs, festivals, and agricultural shows who are members of MAFA. Submissions for 2017 will be accepted at the Big E’s marketing department following the Big E next fall. For information on entering next year, please call 413-205-5041.
