Peter and Barbara Oberfest, owners and publishers of The Martha’s Vineyard Times, have announced two promotions.
Jamie Kageleiry, formerly executive editor of Times publications, has been named associate publisher. While Kageleiry will maintain editorial responsibility for some Times publications, her new role will include collaborating with the publishers and the ad sales department to create new print and digital products for readers, and custom projects for advertisers.
In making the announcement of Kageleiry’s new position, Peter Oberfest said, “This expansion of Jamie’s responsibilities underscores her editorial skills as well as her grasp of the intersection of print and digital journalism, and their underlying technologies. Jamie brings great instincts and energy to the new opportunities for community journalism.”
George Brennan came to The MV Times just a year ago as news editor, and has been promoted to editor of The Martha’s Vineyard Times. “George has rapidly assumed leadership of our editorial efforts while mentoring young staffers and mastering Vineyard quirks and local rules,” Peter Oberfest said. “George will continue putting his stamp on the newsroom, and will have expanding responsibility across the newspaper. And of course, George and Jamie will continue to collaborate across all of our products and services.
“As appreciative as we are of Jamie and George, these important changes are ultimately a reflection of our appreciation for how much our entire staff contributes, in talent, work ethic, and sense of ownership of The Times’s significance and indispensability in the community.”
