Should floating workshops or businesses be allowed in Vineyard Haven Harbor?
Response:
I think that only businesses that are dependent on water should be allowed in the harbor. The very definition of harbor is “a part of a body of water so protected as to be a place of safety for ships,” “A sheltered part of a body of water deep enough to provide anchorage for ships.” Other definitions follow the same theme using ships, boats or vessels. A vessel is a ship or large boat or a craft for traveling on water. Consider what a harbor is designed to do. Harbors provide shelter, temporary space and marine services for boats. Keep Vineyard Haven Harbor the beautiful working harbor that it is. Not a harbor for floating homes and businesses. There are already two too many.
