Vineyard fisherman Sam Hopkins has brought about a half-dozen loads of sea scallops into Menemsha since bringing in his initial catch last week, according to Martha’s Vineyard Fishermen’s Preservation Trust executive director Shelley Edmundson. On July 25 Hopkins’ vessel Endurance unloaded the first direct sea scallops into Chilmark in years, thanks to a $1 million permit acquired by the Trust.

“We are very impressed with Sam’s stamina and dedication to landing quality sea scallops in Menemsha,” Trust president John Keene said. “He has provided a high degree of success for our program and excitement on the dock and in the markets.”
