To the Editor:
We so enjoy reading The Times both online and in print! Thank you for the great coverage of Illumination Night in the Campground, and featuring us in your article. We would just like to make one clarification on the write-up: We have been coming to M.V. and enjoying Illumination Night for almost 40 years, and were able to purchase our home in the Campground not as an investment to send our son to a federal service academy, but because our son received an appointment and chose to attend the U.S. Coast Guard Academy, which is tuition-free.
We had saved every penny and five-cent can deposit that we could, starting before he was born, to make sure there would be enough savings for him to attend college when the time came. That college savings became our family Island home, and our son’s future became a career in service to our country in the U.S. Coast Guard. Here’s to another 40 years of Grand Illumination!
