Ryan O’Connor, Maia Donnelly, and Marston Clough tops in Sullivan 5K

Vineyard Haven was the first local runner across the line, and took fifth place overall in 19:29.

Maia Donnelly of Vineyard Haven wasThe busy August road-race schedule came to an end on a muggy Saturday morning in Oak Bluffs with the 30th annual Sullivan 5K Run and Walk, benefiting Martha’s Vineyard Hospital.

Nutmegger Ryan O’Connor from Bristol, Conn., was first among the 170 runners, completing the East Chop course in 17:40. Richie Spitsberg of Manchester, N.H., finished second with a time of 17:53. Matthew Pigott of Sandwich placed third in 19:10, with Thomas Hynes of London, U.K., in fourth (19:17). Chris Cajolet of  the women’s winner, reaching the tape in 22:20 to place 18th overall. Elisha Suryckova, also from Vineyard Haven, was next for the women (23:22, 23rd) with Edgartown’s Megan McDonald (23:34, 26th), Jamie Powers of Uxbridge (23:51, 28th) and Lateefah Pree of Oak Bluffs (24:49, 33rd) rounding out the women’s top five.

In the 5K walk, Marston Clough of Southborough outpaced the field of 50 to the finish in 34:33, a fraction in front of Vineyard Haven’s Jim Austin (34:54). Louise Clough was third (39:02).
