The MVRHS girls soccer team lost a heartbreaker to the Rising Tide Herons on Tuesday afternoon at Dan McCarthy Field in Oak Bluffs.

Twenty seconds into the second half, senior Nattielly Dias collected a through ball, went in one-on-one with the keeper, and put in a left-footed shot to give the Vineyarders a 1-0 lead, but the Herons rallied with two goals to win, 2-1.

With the score tied 1-1 midway through the second half, Gabby Vieira had a golden chance to break the deadlock, but her shot went inches wide of the right post.

The Vineyarders attacked the Rising Tide goal relentlessly in the final 15 minutes, but couldn’t grab the equalizer. “You left it all on the field,” Vineyard Coach Rocco Bellebuono told his team after the final whistle.

The final home match against Dennis-Yarmouth will be rescheduled from Saturday to a date to be determined, due to the threat of inclement weather. Check mvtimes.com for updates.
