The All-Island String Orchestra Christmas Concert is set for Thursday, Dec. 6, at 6 pm at the Performing Arts Center. Featuring 142 enthusiastic string students from all of the Island’s elementary schools, they’ll play selections from Haydn’s “Quartet Op. 33, No 3, ‘The Bird,’” and Richard Meyer’s “Joust,” along with more seasonal numbers. Orchestras will perform, and there will be selections from the Suzuki repertoire. The students are under the direction of string instructors Nancy Jephcote, Chelsea Pennebaker, and Rebecca Laird, with accompaniment provided by program assistant Carol Loud.
