How long have you been at the hospital, Martha?

I came to work here five years ago. Prior to that I was a clinical manager in pediatric ER trauma in Florida.

What’s a typical day like for you?

I work with all departments in the hospital, educating them on the importance of infection control.

What is your biggest challenge?

Right now, there’s an influx of employees getting ready for the summer. It’s a big challenge managing their pre-employment health documents, making sure every new hire is up to date on their vaccines and in a healthy state.

What’s a rewarding part of your job?

It’s good to know that the role of infection prevention is being recognized — it plays an important role in a hospital setting.
