The Lagoon Pond Association celebrates 30 years

0

The Lagoon Pond Association (LPA) will hold its annual meeting on Saturday, July 13, 9 am at the Oak Bluffs Sailing Camp. According to a press release, in lieu of its traditional educational format, the association will celebrate its 30-year “birthday” with door prizes, a silent auction and raffle, refreshments, and a look back over the years.

The auction items include a custom-made kayak storage rack, framed aerial photograph of Lagoon Pond, one-half-day fishing adventure, local jewelry, local pottery, local oysters, and more. Bidding should be fun and lively.

The LPA is dedicated to protect, preserve, and enhance the character of Lagoon Pond and all immediate areas. Our interests include water quality, the natural beauty and resources such as fishing and shell-fishing, and recreation and safety. The LPA also communicates and cooperates with governmental agencies and other civic and conservation groups that are concerned with the quality of resources and life on Martha’s Vineyard, especially as they pertain to Lagoon Pond.

All are invited to attend. You can learn more and join the association by visiting lagoonpondassoc.org, or contact Doug Reece, LPA president, at 508-335-2564.
