Rafters rescued off Oak Bluffs

Oak Bluffs Fire and Police personnel rescued two teens Saturday evening after an inflatable raft they were on drifted into Nantucket Sound. The teens were about a half-mile offshore from Inkwell Beach, Oak Bluffs Fire Chief John Rose said. Neither teen wore a lifejacket, according to a post from the Oak Bluffs Police Department. The teens were buoyed by a float that had lost some air, the post stated.

“The parties were uninjured, and safely transported back to shore,” the post stated. “We are very thankful for this outcome, and want to remind everyone to be very cautious while swimming, and be aware of the winds and currents.”
