
As the Union Chapel 2019 season comes to a close this Sunday, Sept. 1, trustee Dr. Aliya F. Browne will deliver the sermon.
Browne is a licensed minister in the Baptist Church. She currently serves at First United Methodist Church as pulpit relief to the head pastor. She previously served as Women’s Ministry lead at First Baptist Church of Lincoln Gardens in Somerset, N.J. According to a press release, she is a graduate of Princeton Theological Seminary, where her focus was on practical theology and spiritual direction. She is a graduate of Oasis Ministries, with a certificate as a spiritual director. She teaches Christian meditation, and enjoys hosting spiritual retreats for women, the release states. Browne is a board-certified clinical cardiologist, and incorporates spiritual practices into her prescription for holistic health. She is married to Reggie Browne. They have four children, and a home here on the Island.
Browne’s sermon this Sunday is titled “He Knows My Name.” Union Chapel is an interdenominational church, handicap-accessible, and is located at the intersections of Narragansett, Kennebec, and Circuit avenues in Oak Bluffs. Worship begins at 10 am, with an organ prelude at 9:40 am.
