Keeping Lagoon Pond launch ramp clean

On Tuesday, the Tisbury department of public works (DPW) painted new parking stripes and removed abandoned trailers, while police increased enforcement on boat-trailer parking rules at the Lagoon Pond launch ramp, according to a press release.

The work was done at the request of Tisbury harbormaster John Crocker. The DPW removed a rusted and unregistered trailer that “had clogged up parking spots for two weeks.” Environmental Police Sgt. Scott Opie has been tagging boats left unattended on trailers.

“This is the largest and most convenient state launch ramp on the Island,” Crocker said in a press release. “With the help of the DPW and Sgt. Opie, we’re trying to help Island boaters enjoy their summer on the water. But we need people to be considerate, and cooperate.”
