The Fourth Grade Theatre Project at the Vineyard Playhouse is now in its third week of shows, as the Oak Bluffs students take the stage this weekend. Three original plays will premiere, culminating an exciting 10-week program at the school.
"Sailors, Painters, and Identicals," "Drama Queens and Lucky Kings," and "Comic Strip Catastrophe" will include students Phoebe Dandeneau, Emily de Bettencourt, Cal Howard, Gordon Moore, Cheyenne Tilton, Mariah Duarte, Alexander GordenBeck, Russell Shapiro, Heidi White, Samantha Bettencourt, Anna Flarherty, Yannick Gonsalves, William MacDonald, and Grace Oslyn. Other students worked hard behind the scenes, building sets, doing publicity, and making props.
The project, now in its 13th year, is supported by grants from the Permanent Endowment Fund, the Sharp-Curtis Foundation, the Cape and Islands United Way, the Martha's Vineyard Cooperative Bank, and other Island banks. All the elementary schools are able to participate in the program.
