Letters to the Editor

Wood docks, not concrete, in Menemsha

Kudos to Marshall Carroll for attending Chilmark selectmen's meetings and expressing concerns over the proposed dock change in Menemsha Basin.

At the Gagnon Teen Center

I am thrilled to announce two milestones for the Alexandra Gagnon Teen Center at the YMCA.

A kindness paid forward

I thank Dick Carlson and Lou Johnson from the bottom of my heart for the ride to my car at the Park & Ride in Vineyard Haven.

Thank you, Andres

On July 8, the Edgartown Library Foundation will host its Fourth Annual Legacy of Learning event.

Death by a thousand cuts

There is a relentless but seemingly fatal movement being foisted upon our entire community by a tiny minority of myopic, greedy, and selfish neighbors bent upon destroying an essential Island resource, in a classic example of death by a thousand cuts.

Congratulations to IGI

Congratulations to Island Grown Initiative, its donors, and to Martha'sVineyard, on IGI's recent acquisition of Thimble Farm.

A host of supporters

It is wonderful news to hear that the immediate threat to Thimble Farm has eased, and that it will perhaps be saved in perpetuity for productive agriculture.

Concerned

I am concerned about the tone that the newspaper is taking lately.

On the other hand …

I read with interest Doug Cabral's column,

Cabral sponsors terrorism

Doug Cabral's June 14, 2012 column,

She cannot know

I would like to let Heather Goodwin know that I understand her feelings

Important meeting of the MVC

Thursday, June 21, will be an important day for the Martha's Vineyard Commission (MVC), perhaps even a transformational one.

It’s the typeface

The new typeface of the MV Times is just awful.

Why?

Once upon a time, a Times reader could be insulated from the corrosive comments of anonymous correspondents by simply choosing to resist the urge to look at the online comments.

Accident awaits

I went to the selectmen's meeting on June 12, to talk about the new slant parking, but opted not to continue in the public comment time because very few listen with empathy.

Pitch in

As a newly elected Oak Bluffs finance committee member, I am honored to serve our community.

It’s for the children

Young drivers on Martha's Vineyard would benefit from having a traffic light to negotiate.

A community to thank

Before the school year comes to a close, I want to acknowledge the many volunteers who contribute in so many ways to our school community.

Thanks to all

I thank the entire community of Martha's Vineyard for their continued support of the high school athletic program.
