Rene Da Silva wins St. Paddy’s Day-ish race

The 19th annual St. Paddy’s Day-ish 5k road race and fitness walk coursed through East Chop on Sunday. Placing first for the men was Rene DaSilva, with a time of 17:58.00.  Freshman Catherine Cherry beat out her female competition in a time of 21:32.00.

Lee Greathouse finished in second with a 18:36.00 finish. MVRHS senior Aivaras Gedviles crossed the line third in 19:00.00.

Pearl Vercruysse came in second for the women at 22:12.92, with Tara Nitardy just behind her in third with a time of 22:15.00.

The course started and ended in front of the Ocean View Tavern on Chapman Avenue. It took runners through and around East Chop. The race benefits the MVRHS track and field and cross-country teams.
