My September Sea
by Laura Margosian
As the tides change
I will hunt you down
return to you, my lover —
the sea …
To let go and get lost
in your world —
is to find myself again.
Appreciating even more —
being held by your lapping buoyancy
as you fade —
Waves spitting and swirling, tumbling and hurling —
teasing gurgles of delight.
Drunken by your salty scent,
mesmerized by your expansiveness
washing over me
swallowing me up —
into your deep dark vastness, cleansing me anew.
And propelling me effortlessly
onto your jeweled shore —
to emerge in the soft breathy breeze — till we meet again.
My bare feet sink into baked sands
while swept along your carpeted shoreline like a crane taking flight …
