Oak Bluffs police were called to the Martha’s Vineyard Regional High School Monday to assist school officials after an ambulance was dispatched to bring two students, ages 17 and 18, who police said were under the influence of prescription pills, to the Martha’s Vineyard Hospital for evaluation. One of the two boys became unruly with paramedics, and needed to be controlled by the responding police officer.
A search of the student’s backpack turned up marijuana, a bottle of lorazepam, and a flask of alcohol. Police said the boy took the pills from the medicine cabinet of a relative.
Oak Bluffs Police Lieut. Tim Williamson said police will make a determination whether to seek charges against the boy who obtained and supplied the pills based on the results of an ongoing investigation.
Principal Gil Traverso was unavailable to speak to The Times Wednesday regarding the status of the two boys and their upcoming graduation.
