Fortunata, “Nata” P. (Paira) Metell of Vineyard Haven died peacefully on August 25, surrounded by her children. She was 90.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Francis K. Metell Sr., and all of her siblings. Family was very important to Nata. She is survived by a very large and loving family. Her beloved children are Francis K. Jr., his wife Beth, and their children Ilona, Theresa, Kenny, and Mandy Metell, Tina Steffen, and Willie Bettencourt and his wife Chrissy; Dennis C. and his wife Ingrid, and their children Joshua, Mathew, and Peter Metell, Taysha King and her husband Ron, and Rhema Seale and her husband Donny; Susan Wayne and her husband Bruce, and their children Jeremy Metell, Nicholas Metell and his wife Tammy, Sylvia Metell and her children Sarah and her partner Jody Mendez, and Greg Rubick and his partner Katie Cray; Paul Metell and his wife Renée and their children Jeremy Provost and his wife Lindsey, and Aaron Metell and his partner Hannah Maxner; Peter Metell and his children Lauren and Andrea Metell. She is also survived by 15 great-grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Besides being very involved with her family, Nata was also involved in the Good Shepherd Catholic Church and the community.
