Richard C. Brown of Oak Bluffs celebrated his 94th birthday Thursday, Dec. 31, at a luncheon at his home, surrounded by his wife Carolyn, sons William A. Brown, John LaBell, and Walter LaBell, all of Oak Bluffs, Noel LaBell of Connecticut, daughter Christine Clifford of Swansea, their families and friends. In addition to being a well-loved family man, Mr. Brown may best be known as the former owner of the original Dairy Queen in Edgartown, a Little League umpire, Boy Scout leader, volunteer at the Whaling Church Monday night soup suppers, and talented wood carver.
