Workshop with Peter Simon
You don’t need to have fancy equipment or know much about the technical side of photography in order to enjoy Vineyard photographer Peter Simon’s workshop, just enthusiasm and a desire to learn. There are currently a series of five monthly workshops, and the first one begins in May. The class –limited to 12 students – includes an opening night social hour, followed by a course introduction and lecture. Students accompany Mr. Simon on field trips, are assigned various photo assignments, and learn photography techniques with hands-on demonstrations. Each evening, students gather at the Simon Gallery in Vineyard Haven to view and critique each student’s output for the day via Powerpoint projection. During the four-day workshop, Mr. Simon covers topics such as lighting, composition, group/individual portraits, and posing, and teaches how to use flash, depth-of-field, action effects, and minor Photoshop techniques. The next four-day seminar is $500, and is from May 28 to May 31. For more information, call 508-645-9575.
