Oak Bluffs and State Police arrested Eugene Casey, 27, of Boston, Friday evening on cocaine charges. The Drug Task Force has been investigating Mr. Casey on suspicion of distributing narcotics for the past year, according to Oak Bluffs police.
Police approached Mr. Casey just before 7 pm, on Franklin Avenue in Oak Bluffs, after they observed suspicious activity. Officers began a search. Mr. Casey became belligerent, according to a police press release. Police arrested Mr. Casey for disorderly conduct.
“A search of Casey at the jail revealed that he had a plastic bag hidden in his underwear between the cheeks of his buttocks,” police said. “The bag contained 12 grams of what police believe to be cocaine.”
Mr. Casey was arraigned Monday in Edgartown District Court on charges of disorderly conduct, possession of cocaine with the intent to distribute, and possession of cocaine with intent to distribute within 1,000 feet of a school zone. Bail was set at $1,000. Mr. Casey posted bail the same day and was released. He is due back in court May 17 for a pretrial hearing.
