The TasteIn its 24th year, the M.V. Preservation Trust’s Taste of The Vineyard Gourmet Stroll attracts a sell-out crowd that wines, dines, and dances the night away to Jerry Bennett and the Sultans of Swing. Find more than 75 Island restaurants, caterers, and beverage purveyors showcasing their finest and tastiest treats while benefiting the nonprofit organization that owns and preserves 14 historic Island buildings, including the Flying Horses Carousel. The $20 registration fee ($15 if registered on Saturday, May 29 at the Wesley Hotel) benefits Hospice of Martha’s Vineyard. A one-mile fun run precedes the race, approximately at 9:30 am. Festivities for the longest day of the year begin at 12 noon at the First Congregational Church of West Tisbury’s annual Strawberry Festival. Enjoy strawberry in shortcake form, over ice cream, and in smoothies. Drive north to Polly Hill Arboretum from 3 to 7 pm for their celebration with dance, music, puppet shows, storytelling, food, tours, and more.
The party continues in Oak Bluffs during the Harbor Festival from 12 noon to 5 pm, and again at 7 pm for the Solstice celebration. Find vendors, live music, and tons of food.
