Gay Head “” lights up

On Sunday, the Gay Head lighthouse was open to the public for the first time this season. “All Mothers and all who have/had a Mother,” were welcomed to the iconic beacon by lighthouse keeper Richard Skidmore for a special Mother’s Day treat. Visitors young and old were invited to climb up and take a look out over the waters west of the Island’s westernmost point.

Managed by the Martha’s Vineyard Museum, the lighthouse will be open for sunset tours on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays from June 18 to September 19.
