When people come into the gallery, can you tell by how they appear what sort of art they will like?

Nancy Cramer, Shaw Cramer Gallery: Not necessarily. First impressions can be deceptive. I’m often surprised. What catches someone’s eye is often not reflected in his or her personal style on that day.

Shaw Cramer Gallery, Vineyard Haven, Mon.–Sat., 10 am–5 pm; Sun., 12 noon–5 pm. 508-696-7323

Jennifer Pillsworth, Field Gallery: Never. It’s so dangerous to ever judge a book by its cover. Making presumptions is never a good idea. In the gallery, we don’t pay attention to how people look, we focus on talking about the art.

Field Gallery, West Tisbury, Mon.–Sat., 11 am–5pm; Sun., 11 am–4pm. 508-693-5595
