Sweet charity

Brownies, chocolate chip cookies, and fresh breads will all be under the Linden Tree on Main Street in Vineyard Haven this Saturday. From 9 am to 2 pm, the Vineyard Committee on Hunger hosts its annual bread and bake sale to benefit various charities such as the Island Food Pantry and Island councils on aging.

Dance party

Bombshell Sound Agents presents a Hi Life Dance Party this Friday night, June 11. From 9 pm to 1 am at Mediterranean, dance to DJ Justin Martin. Admission is $10, and this is a 21+ show. For more information, visit facebook.com/heybombshell.

Feels like summer

This weekend, the Aquinnah Cultural Center (ACC) and the West Tisbury Farmers Market opens for the season. The ACC will open Saturday from 1 to 3 pm. Museum hours are Wed., Fri., and Sat., from 11 am to 3 pm. For more information, call 508-645-7900.

Linda Alley announces the first West Tisbury Farmers Market of 2010 this Saturday, from 9 am to 12 noon, rain or shine, at the Grange Hall.

Capawock screens “Tea Party”

The Capawock hosts a free showing of “Tea Party: The Documentary Film on Sunday, June 13 at 7 pm. A look behind the 9/12/2009 March on Washington, the film follows five grassroots individuals and their transformation from hometown rally-goers and organizers, to national activists.

Monday Night Special

On Monday evening, Laura Latreille stars in “Cloths of Heaven” by Thomas Yee, a play about Maude Gonne and William Butler Yeats, at the Vineyard Playhouse. The first Monday Night Special of the year is sponsored by The Liman Foundation. Admission is a suggested donation of $10. Rock at The Dive Bar

Seasonal Edgartown resident Jonathan Auerbach is currently on tour in support of his third all-original rock CD “Heard,” and is playing at The Dive Bar this Tuesday, June 15. Of Boston and Nashville, Tenn., this is his second of two performances on the Island. He also played June 8.

A rock musician and singer/songwriter, Mr. Auerbach also uses his music to help others. He volunteers for a music therapy program for pediatric cancer patients at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute.
