Danny Noel Meader born December 25, 1952, died June 8 at the age of 57. Danny was born in Flint, Michigan, the second son of Bernard Meader and Laurel Emma Jean McCulley. He attended Ainsworth High School where he played football and was on the wrestling team. Danny joined the United States Marine Corps in 1971. In September 1973, while stationed at Marine Headquarters, Henderson Hall, he met his future wife, Robin Rebello, who was working for the FBI in Washington, D.C. On June 1, 1974, Danny and Robin were married at Sacred Heart Parish, surrounded by family and friends. After serving 9 years with the Marines, SSgt Meader and his wife moved back to Martha’s Vineyard.
While on the Vineyard, Danny worked for the Oak Bluffs Water Department, served for many years as a water commissioner for the town, and then went on to work for the United States Postal Service as a clerk. Throughout that time, he also worked alongside his wife as the bookkeeper at the Flying Horses Carousel. For many years, Danny was also a JV football coach at MVRHS.
Danny was a loving and devoted husband to his wife, Robin Martha; father to his three children, Jared Anthony, Jaime Lynne, and William Alle; father-in‑law to Julie Ann, Calvin, and Laura Marie; grandfather to his seven, soon to be eight, grandchildren: Hailey Lynne, Hunter Clayton, Savannah Ann, Silas Anthony, Cory, Mason, Joseph Manuel, and baby girl Meader.
Danny is survived by his father, mother, stepmother Hellen, brothers Michael and Bernard Jr., sister LeeAnn, and many nieces and nephews. Danny was a great man who went on to live an honest life. When Danny was not out enjoying his favorite pastime, golf, he could be found at his children’s and then grandchildren’s sporting events, beaming with pride. He was deeply loved and will be strongly missed by all who knew him.
