Tisbury fire fighters answered a 2:15 am call on June 16, about a pickup truck on fire in front of Kevin Diori’s house at 211 Greenwood Avenue.

Mr. Diori said he smelled smoke, and when he looked outside, he saw that the truck bed of his Ford F-350 diesel pickup was on fire, according to Tisbury fire Chief John Schilling. Mr. Diori said he ran out to move his wife’s car, which was parked right next to his truck.

Although her car sustained only minor damage from the fire’s heat, Chief Schilling said Mr. Diori’s truck was a total loss, including ladders and tools stored in back for his construction business.

“There was nothing suspicious about the fire,” Chief Schilling said. “The cause was due to spontaneous combustion of contents in the bed of truck, which included a combination of products such as solvents and bleach.”
