Bruce D. “Rooster” Scott, 69 of Edgartown died on Wednesday, June 23, at the Martha’s Vineyard Hospital after a lengthy illness. He was the beloved husband of Constance (Pero) Scott.
Bruce was born in New York city on June 6, 1941 to William S. and Ruth (Goodman) Scott. He grew up in Wilmette/Kennelworth, Ill., and was a graduate of New Trier High School in Winnetka, Ill. Bruce went on to Mondell Institute of Engineering in New York City. He worked for several years in the engineering field, and then was a manager of country clubs for many years.
Bruce retired to the Island in 1982 and became an avid fisherman. He had a great love for horses as well as dogs. Besides his beloved wife, Bruce is also survived by his sister Michelle Scott of Richmond, Va., and a cousin, Dr. Joseph Butterweck of Friant, Calif., as well as several other cousins.
