Kathleen Ann (McLean) Gillis of Vineyard Haven died at Martha’s Vineyard Hospital on Friday, July 9, 2010, after a courageous battle with cancer. She was the beloved wife of James J. Gillis Jr. and devoted mother of Justine C. Chisholm of Oak Bluffs, Lynn A. Gillis of Hull, Peter J. Gillis of Boston and Oak Bluffs, and Megan A. McBroom of Whitman. She is also survived by nine grandchildren and one great grandchild; sisters Judith Hargreaves of N.Y. and Ann Sund of Naples, Fla., as well as several nieces & nephews. She was pre-deceased by her parents, Gordon J.B. and Louise (Taylor) McLean and her brother Keith McLean.
Kathleen was a 1960 graduate of Belmont High School and attended Burdett College. She served as Tisbury Town Clerk for two terms in the 1980s and worked for many years in the admissions office of the Martha’s Vineyard Hospital. She was also a member of Farm Neck Golf Club.
Her funeral mass was held on Tuesday, July 13, 11 am, St. Augustine’s Church, Franklin St., Vineyard Haven. A visitation was held on Monday, July 12, 5 to 8 pm in the Chapman, Cole & Gleason Funeral Home, Edgartown Road, Oak Bluffs.
