The Massachusetts Department of Transportation (MassDOT) put Tisbury’s proposed connector road project between State Road and Edgartown-Vineyard Haven Road on the agenda for a formal presentation by town officials at 2 pm, August 31, in the Transportation Building in Boston.
Department of public works (DPW) director Fred LaPiana announced the news at a joint meeting of the board of public works (BPW) commissioners and the Tisbury selectmen Tuesday.
The formal presentation is an important step in the state’s process in consideration of awarding a Public Works Economic Development (PWED) grant of up to $4 million to the connector road project.
Mr. LaPiana said in a phone call yesterday he and the project’s consultants would likely make the presentation.
The three Tisbury selectmen said they plan to attend the meeting. Mr. LaPiana said he will invite representative Tim Madden and senator Robert O’Leary to the presentation, since they sent letters to MassDOT in support of a PWED grant for the connector road project.
