Ruth Adams’ Treehouse Studios on State Road will be glowing with the vibrant paintings of Islander Enos Ray through Labor Day. Mr. Ray’s distinctive portraits of Blues musicians, Camptown races, and Vineyard scenes. Treehouse is open daily from 10 am to 5 pm. 508-692-6645.
Getting the brush off
Vineyard artist Kenneth Vincent, painter and childrens book illustrator, will conduct a painting demonstration tomorrow, Friday morning, August 27, from 10:30 am to 12:30 pm in the gallery courtyard at The Granary in West Tisbury. It’s an opportunity to see how it’s done.
Happy Anniversary
Cousen Rose celebrates its 31st year on Saturday, August 28, from 7 to 9 pm, with its artists and authors.The Gala Event and artist’s retrospective, “Colter to Zeender — Encaustics to Oils,” includes all the artist who have exhibited at the gallery this season, and among those attending will be Deborah Colter, Mark Zeender, Cleasby, Steve London, Donna Straw, Myrna Morris, Robert Fitzgerald, Carolyn Warren and Debra Gaines. Star makers
Dragonfly Gallery has reason to boast about its exhibiting artists. The pencil drawings of Brooklyn College art teacher Adam Thompson, who’s been showing at Dragonfly for 11 years, were recently published in a book by Regency Arts Press. Copies are available at Dragonfly. The gallery is also planning a book signing event for Mr. Thompson’s wife Helen, who’s first book, “And Yet They Were Happy,” will be released in May, 2011.
And Island artist Traeger diPietro, who shows at PIKNIK Art & Apparel and at Dragonfly, recently placed 19 of his mixed media works at Grace, a new restaurant in Portland, Maine.
