To the Editor:
A few weeks ago, I made my very first visit to Martha’s Vineyard and was hosted by lovely friends on Lake Tashmoo. One evening, while helping a friend adjust the seatbelt in the car, I foolishly placed my wallet on the closed trunk of the car, forgot it was there, and drove off. It was not until I returned to the house that I realized it was missing and sure that it was gone forever, due to it’s content.
I was so sick and distressed that I had lost everything I needed to enjoy the rest of my stay. My host immediately called the Vineyard Haven Police Department, where Officer Mike Gately took all of my information. Within one hour (amazing), he called me with the good news that my wallet had been turned in, without one thing missing.
Many thanks to the lovely lady (you know who you are!) who went to the time and trouble to return my wallet. I will always have wonderful memories of my stay on M.V., and the kindness shown to me by the people there, one in particular. Thank you. It was a real blessing.
