To the Editor:
Regarding Mr. Martell’s decision to declare martial law last week, when questioned about the legality of closing the roads by Chilmark executive secretary Tim Carroll, Mr. Martell’s reply was, “We’re lying.”
I think that is grounds for termination of his job. What kind of respect can he possibly expect from police and fire personnel and Islanders and visitors alike? How much has this guy cost the town of Oak Bluffs this year alone in legal fees? How much did he cost local business with his foolish decision?
We’ve been through several hurricanes over the years and every winter we have three or four storms with hurricane force winds. People do have common sense. Get rid of this guy once and for all. He is the last of the “old boy” network.
