George (Giorgio) Richard Silva left us for his new journey on June 25, 2010. He was a true Gemini, born on June 20, 1927, in Edgartown, where he lived for 70 years. His interests during his lifetime were wide and varied. He was also quite a humorist. He traveled in Europe in his later years, but as a young man traveled west in a Model T Ford. He had a variety of intinerant jobs to make his way. He was most fond of his time spent in the baseball leagues in Arizona.
On the Island, he had a flourishing painting business for many years. He was a police officer in Edgartown, and he was involved in town government in both Edgartown and Vineyard Haven.
He attended Boston State College and Massachusetts Maritime Academy. He spent time as a paralegal, a private investigator, and a private security guard. He embraced his heritage, traveling numerous times to his beloved Italy. His mother was from Calabria, Italy, and his father was born and raised on the island of Flores in the Azores.
He was the father of Aaron, John, and Matthew Silva, and the grandfather of Naomi, Joshua, Hannah, Jeremy, Alex, Alessandra, Cameron, and Chloe Silva.
