Beatrice Correllus Beaucaire, a native of Martha’s Vineyard, died on Wednesday, October 20, in Bristol, Conn., where she had lived for the last 50 years. She was born to Joseph and Maria Estrella Correllus on June 19, 1913.
She was one of eight children and predeceased by her husband, Ovila Edmund Beaucaire, and her grandson Dale Robert Clark.
She moved to Bristol in 1960 where she went to take care of her family. She stayed there and took on jobs as a governess until she retired at the age of 82. She was a communicant of St. Augustine’s church on Martha’s Vineyard and St. Anne’s in Bristol. She was a member of the Degree of Pocahontas in Vineyard Haven. She loved to read and loved her soap operas (starting with Helen Trent), loved her family, and was thrilled with her 14 grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren and was so thrilled when three years ago she became a great-great-grandmother. She had a good day on her 95th birthday when she and several members of her family got together to party and meet with her great-great-grandchildren.
She leaves to survive her, her daughter Lorraine Clark her husband, Richard, and their children, Richard, Pamela, Joy, and Timothy; her daughter Shirley Sullivan her husband, Joseph, and their children Edmund, Shirley, Shawn, Sharon, and Sheryl; her daughter Lorretta Croft and her husband, Albert, and her children Lynn, Everett, Peter, and Keith; her daughter Rosemary Kauke her husband, Herbert, and their children Beth and Steven. There are 28 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her brothers and sisters Manual, David, Frank, and Joseph Correllus, Mary Hurd, and Rose Correllus. Her sister Helen Hemesley currently lives in Kansas.
Beatrice was a very kind and strong woman, who took her faith as part of her life even as late as last week. She never went to bed without saying her rosary.
Her funeral mass will be held Thursday, October 28, at St. Augustine’s in Vineyard Haven at 11 am and her burial will follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery in Oak Bluffs.
