Farm Neck Foundation announces grants

The Farm Neck Foundation recently announced that it is awarding a total of $44,150 in grants to 16 separate Vineyard organizations in 2010.

The Farm Neck Golf Club in Oak Bluffs created the foundation in 1989 to provide charitable assistance exclusively on Martha’s Vineyard. Since then, the foundation has given over $600,000 to Island charities and civic-minded organizations, according to its website.

Among the 2010 grants, the foundation awarded $5,300 to Hospice of Martha’s Vineyard to fund patient care volunteer training; $3,650 to Martha’s Vineyard Cerebral Palsy Camp to fund summer kayaking and sailing programs; $3,500 to Rising Tide Therapeutic Equestrian Center for tuition assistance; $2,800 to Featherstone Center for the Arts to purchase professional portable art walls; $2,000 to Island Community Chorus to help purchase a sound shell; $2,000 to Martha’s Vineyard Chamber Music Society to purchase instruments; $1,000 to Martha’s Vineyard/Dukes County Fisherman’s Association to help defray costs of travel, mailings, and fundraising; and $900 to Windemere to fund an intergenerational creative drama program.
