To the Editor:
Thank you for your kind article about the Family to Family Program (December 8, 2010). Preparing and distributing the holiday food “baskets” truly is a community exercise. It involves many volunteers, generous local merchants and, of course, financial support from our many donors.
As the article stated, times are pretty tough, and this year our demand is up while donations are down.
Anybody wishing to support the program financially may send contributions to: Vineyard Committee on Hunger P.O. Box 4685, Vineyard Haven 02568.
Please make checks payable to VCOH and write “Family to Family” in the memo field. The cost of one family’s meal is $25, but of course contributions in any amount are welcome.
Anybody who would like to find out more about the program, including how to qualify to receive a meal and how to volunteer, please feel free to contact me. Happy Holidays.
